Sat 17 October 2009: 20 miles to Woodstock and back

This month, the third-Saturday-of-the-month ride started in the afternoon for a change. Thirteen Isis Cyclists met outside the Sheldonian Theatre on Broad Street for a ride to Woodstock. It was a mellow, grey sort of afternoon with occasional appearances by the sun. We wound our way through leafy North Oxford and Summertown before crossing the ring road on the cycle bridge in Cutteslowe. We then took the bridle track through the hamlet of Watereaton before emerging in Gosford. After taking care not to lose anyone in Kidlington we rode past the airport and onto the A44 cycle track for the last couple of miles to Woodstock. We met up with a small group of riders from the Witney CTC group and enjoyed tea and cakes in the Oxfordshire Museum garden. Some of us met the museum’s latest resident (see the photo!): “It’s behind you!” The ride leader was Ellen Lee.
